Two Army Jawans in lower Assam’s Barpeta district rescued a woman from drowning in a river here on Sunday.
Subedar Ram and Havildar Ashok Bhakar of the Jat Regiment rushed to the spot and immediately jumped into the river for rescuing her no sooner the locals informed them about it.
“A woman had jumped from the bridge and we immediately alerted the army camp,” an eyewitness told to this correspondent.
“The soldiers came and rescued the woman.
As per reports, the incident took place on Sunday near the Patbausi village in Barpeta when the woman reportedly jumped off from a bridge and fell into the river.
The incident was first spotted by a local resident. He immediately sought help for the Army men and they started their rescue operation.
Later, a video of the jawans rescuing the lady was shared and garnered praise among netizens, who lauded the men in uniform for their gallantry for their dedication, bravery, and presence of mind.
