In a heartwarming story that feels straight out of a Bollywood film, Shubham Shukla, a street singer from Mumbai, gave up his city life to marry Richa Kalita, a differently-abled but academically gifted girl from Pathsala, Assam. The couple met on the music app ‘Star Maker’ and formed a bond that soon turned into love.

Richa, who has been unable to walk since birth, is known for her academic brilliance. Shubham, who lived with his ailing mother in Mumbai, earned a daily income of Rs. 700–800 by singing on the streets. As the two grew closer, Shubham’s mother, battling a critical illness, expressed her final wish — to see her son marry Richa.

Respecting her wish, Shubham traveled to Assam and married Richa in a temple ceremony. Sadly, a month after their wedding, his mother passed away. Following her death, Shubham sold his house and land in Mumbai and relocated to Pathsala, where he now lives with Richa in a rented home.

Despite financial struggles, the couple is building a life together. Shubham actively supports Richa in her day-to-day life and education. He enrolled her at Bhattadev University so she could continue her studies. They share responsibilities at home and support each other through every challenge.

Richa previously studied at Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University, where teachers would carry her from a rickshaw to the classroom daily. With sheer determination and support, she successfully completed her education.
