Assam’s singer and music icon, Zubeen Garg, has reportedly passed away in Singapore following a tragic accident during a scuba diving activity.

He was 52.According to sources, Zubeen was injured after accidentally falling into the sea while scuba diving.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors made every effort to save him. However, he succumbed to his injuries later in the day.

Zubeen had travelled to Singapore to participate in the North East Festival, an event meant to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the region. Sadly, the accident took place before he could attend the festival.

The news of his sudden demise has sent shockwaves across Assam and the entire Northeast. Social media has been flooded with tributes from fans, artists, and well-wishers, mourning the loss of a man who was more than just a singer — a cultural ambassador of Assam.

Zubeen Garg was not only a playback singer but also a composer, lyricist, actor, and filmmaker. With a career spanning over three decades, he had recorded songs in multiple languages, including Assamese, Hindi, Bengali, and Nepali, earning him admiration far beyond the Northeast.
