Bajali Residents Demand Speed Boards to Curb Rash Driving on Highways

Amid rising concerns over reckless driving and a surge in recent accidents, residents of Bajali have demanded the urgent installation of Speed Boards with automatic fine detection systems along the Indo-Bhutan road and National Highway 27 (NH-27).
The demand comes in the wake of multiple accidents reported over the past few days, many of which were caused by overspeeding. Commuters and locals alike have expressed fear and frustration, calling the current traffic scenario “alarming” and highlighting the need for stricter monitoring mechanisms.
“These highways witness heavy daily traffic. Without proper speed regulation, the lives of pedestrians and daily commuters are at constant risk,” said a local resident. He also emphasized the need for speed detection systems that automatically record and penalize violators.
The proposed Speed Display Boards would not only display the speed of moving vehicles but also help law enforcement by capturing data and issuing automatic fines to offenders. Such technology, already in use in several urban areas, has proven effective in reducing road mishaps.
Authorities are yet to issue an official response, but residents hope swift action will be taken before the situation worsens further.
