A local resident stated to the local media , ” Earlier, there are many Golden langur killed by the speedy vehicles.  We already informed to the authorities.  But till now no action has been taken. To save the golden langur they should put signboards in the national highway to control the speed limit of the vehicles.”

Golden langurs are an Old-World monkey species that can be found in the nearby foothills of the Black Mountains in Bhutan and a tiny area of Western Assam in India. They are considered sacred among the locals.

They are mostly found on the north of the Brahmaputra River. They are herbivores that eat mostly ripe and unripe fruits, mature and young leaves, seeds, buds, and flowers. They ideally live in groups of eight or fewer, with numerous females to every adult male.
