Unravelling the mysterious case of recovery of dead body of a lady teacher in Kalaigaon, Udalguri police finally made a breakthrough in the much hyped case of recovery of dead body of 53 year old Nayantara Sahariah a serving high school teacher whose body with its face  completely distorted with concentrated chemicals was found in semi naked state in a class room of U.N Academy a private sector school of Kalaigaon town in Udalguri district on July 7 .

Udalguri police after preliminary investigation of Sahariah have tightened their noose around the family members of Sahariah and  arrested her husband Upen Barua, eldest son Hirak Jyoti Barua, domestic maid, Yashoda Rabha and a mason Newaj Ahmed on suspicion of their involvement in the heinous crime.

All the arrested accused persons after their production before the judicial court at Udalguri on Sunday afternoon, have been remanded to the police custody for seven days for further investigation.

Sources said through prima-facie it appeared to be case of rape and murder  but  medical reports didn’t corroborate the same . It is also suspected that extra-marital affair of the husband is the reason behind the killing.

Violet Baruah, DIG, BTAD  termed it one of the most critical murder case and  said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Udalguri SP, Ripul Das,  was formed to nab the culprits. A forensic team, dog squad was also involved along with the support of a CID team. DIG Baruah also said that all possible scientific and human intelligence support was taken to solve the case.

“The mere arrest of culprits is not important. Most important is to prosecute them successfully in court. ”, DIG Baruah said.

The entire investigation was assisted by a team of Assam CID and forensic experts after Assam 

Chief Minister,Sarbananda Sonowal taking cognizance of the gravity of the case directed the investigation agency to look into the matter and assist Udalguri police.

On the other hand a number of organizations including Kalaigaon unit of All Assam Students’ Union(AASU), All Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad(AJYCP) ,Nari Mukti Sangram Samiti(NMSS) and All Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union(AKRSU) Udalguri west chapter  have  demanded fast track trial of the accused and  justice to Nayantara Sahariah .

Pertinently the victim lady teacher who went for jogging on July 6 was missing and found dead in the classroom of the school near about 100 metres from her residence.
