In a tragic incident, A 15-year-old boy in Class 10 allegedly committed suicide for not being able to attend online classes as the family didn’t have any facility for him to attend the classes at Assam’s Chirang district.

The minor boy allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree near his house.

Police said the boy, a resident of Salbari village under Runikhata police station in Chirang district was 15-year-old and a student of class 10th at Tukrajhar High School.

He was supposed to attend the online classes which were started recently after the government’s order.

After the lockdown in view of Covid-19 pandemic, most of the schools across the country have started online classes.

The boy belonged to economically weak family, living in a small house and failed to get a smartphone for online classes.

He was deeply upset after he failed to attend the online classes, said a local resident.

Police have recovered a suicide note from the spot.

The suicide note mentioned that he had been stressed for the last few days because he could not attend online classes for not having smartphone.

The boy stated that he also couldn’t appear for the online examinations as he did have smartphone.
